Songs

In a previous post I spoke of songs that remind of certain situations or events that I found myself in, this one is a bit more of the same, but more specific, songs that remind me of certain people. I only have to hear the opening bars of certain songs and there face pops into my head, or maybe it's a certain lyric and pop there they are running around bringing back memories.

Charlene Upex - S Club Party - S club 7 - Yes she performed it, no she was not good (just kidding!) I'm still not sure how we managed to persuade her to do this alongside the others, luckily for the world I was on the side-lines organising the event and laughing, loudly. It should also be noted I do also think of Matt Jones and Siouxsie Holmes.

Kevin Cole  - God Save the Queen - National Anthem, this one doesn't work as well now with the change to king, but every time I heard the anthem a little wry smile crossed my lips thinking about him doing the Queen's speech during our Christmas meal's and the videos we made.

David Brady - The Hindu Times - I could have put so many in here for this legend, but this will always be the ultimate one, a quiet night before a road trip, a quick drink, several hours later 2am and we're belting out this number, only one word for it......stupidity. Pretty much sums the pair of us up really!

Gareth Hollis - Limp Bizkit Take a look around, The Mission Impossible 2 theme, this was a strange time for us in rural Lincolnshire, Nu Metal was just starting infiltrate the area and he was on a mission to make sure we all bought the single to get it to number one, for a short time it was his sole mission in life, to be fair it is a kick ass tune!

Hayley Hobin - Remix to ignition - R Kelly I know this is bad song to think of someone to given what he's been convicted of but when I did used to hear this it made me think of her, showing off her dance skills on liquid's dance floor during a foam party and then sliding into a massive foam pile and coming out covered in the stuff.

Sara Kitchener - Build me up buttercup - The Foundations - The person who I've enjoyed working a bar with like no other, we were the dream team on bar 4 and when DJ Reno played with song, both of us singing loudly and badly very happy times.

Samantha Beeson - I love rock'n'roll - Joan Jett - Back when I used to watch her gigging often, she would play this song in her set, engaging with the audience asking them what the beat that she used to clap out was, without fail they would say We will rock you by Queen before she launched into this absolute classic.

Andrew Batchelor Baker - Oh what a night - Frankie Valli and the four seasons - I'm not sure how this tradition started but every bender that we went on at Uni ended up with us doing a highly choreographed dance to this little beauty. With Andy directing the action, I still do the twirl and handclaps every time I hear this belter.

Emma Barfoot - Hypersonic Missiles - Sam Fender - a very recent one on the list but when I hear this now all I can think about is us at the gig in the Olympic Stadium singing along with 80,000 people while he put on a hell of a show.

Angel Costello - 5 Colours in her hair - McFly it was almost as if this song was made for her, she was a bit like me always putting different dyes in her hair, when this used to come on in Liquid, we'd rush to the dance floor and play really bad air guitar to it.

James Swain - Apache, jump on it - The Sugahill Gang - Sub Club circa 2001-2004 if this song came on he would bust out the best of dance moves, with a full on blue steel pout and some serious groinal rotation. It should also be noted that pretty much every Michael Jackson song also remind me of him!

Nick Bridges - Macho Man - YMCA now this one started as Jim and Me taking the micky out of him which then progressed to a short while of every time he entered the building we'd put it on the sound system until he threated to remove our heads if we did it again, every now and then I bring it back just to remind him of the good times.

Helen Gaskell - Last Resort - Papa Roach - As I said for Gareths entry on this list, Lincolnshire was a strange place to grow up in and when she came into my life during sixth form bringing her metal loving self with her, this song was one of the first that she introduced me to and I still think back to our time in the sixth form common room wasting time arguing about films with this as the soundtrack.

Abigail Varrie - Uncle Kracker's Follow Me, arguably one of the biggest one hit wonders of the 00's and Abs was obsessed with it, Flat H was a bit of a musical warzone sometimes with her trying to play this on repeat and us ganging up and stopping her.

Scott Callister - Get on up - 5ive - Yes we did a dance to it, no it wasn't good. Yes I injured myself once trying to do a kip up during it. Still makes me laugh every time I hear it, I also still remember the dance so for a drink and if you ask nicely I may well try and perform it again for you!

Jamie Fox - Hey Jude, this is one of those classic songs that took on a deeper meaning for me, it was closing time at The Park one drunken Thursday night, after a £1 a drink night and yet another victory for the mighty Team Park. The DJ selected this Beatles classic as the last song of the night, what followed was approximately 30 minutes of us singing the last bit, led by the 6'6" ginger giant, banging along on the table with alarming ferocity, that was until Pete, aka The Gaffer told us to fuck off or we'd all be barred.

These are only a few of the songs that remind of me of people,  I've got so many more, so expect a second part to this idea!

Right now over to you, what song makes you think of me? Answers in the comments if you can be bothered, if not then why not play it and just think of me? Or is that to scary? Either way until next time.
