Songs part 2

I did a blog post a little while ago about songs that remind me of people and said there were so many more. I even had one or two people ask me what songs remind me of them so in the spirit of the Muppets...we're doing a sequel!! It also helps that a song came on my random play that made someone pop into my head that I hadn't thought of in years.......so let's lead with that one shall we?

Verity Bailes - I think we're alone now - Tiffany, a bit of a soppy one but I kissed her to this song on the dance floor in Liquid and we turned to look at each other and then around us and back at each other and then laughed as we shook out heads. A sweet moment that became our little thing.

Phil Baker - Bring me to life - Evanescene - We used to have a group of Lutonians who used to have a little club called The Sunday Night Socials, where we would drink in The Park until closing time before moving across the road to Red Red Red, this was a particular favourite of ours and Phil doing the deep male part of the chorus comes into my head every time that I hear it.

Nathan Spencer - The JCB Song - Nizlopi - Apart from his fascination with McFly whenever I hear this song it takes me back to the days when we had adjoining offices in the Student Union building and his love of this song, he also got to play it several times in the SubClub as it's resident DJ

Matthew Hudson & Becky Cunliffe - You stole the sun from my heart - Manic Street Preachers. The two of them had this wonderful little routine singing alternate words to this amazing song. It takes me back to HIbbert Street and the two of them cooking up meals for us all or making their home made Worcestershire Sauce, which if you didn't know involves boiling anchovies and stinking your place out for weeks afterwards.

James Kelly - Don't cha - The Pussycat Dolls - A little random this one, I remember a drunken night out and him standing on the edge of the dancefloor of Liquid (how many of these memories were made there?!?) and him staring at the video on the screen telling me he was going to marry one of them, I think it was Ashley but I maybe wrong on that one.

Ash Wren - Just Like a Pill - Pink - My big sis was going off on her travels around the world and this was one of her favourite songs. I remember that night in the SubClub saying goodbye to her as this song was playing, her having that cheeky little smile on her face, knowing I was going to miss her ripping the piss out of me for a long time.

Siousxie Holmes - Slide Away - Oasis - This is a bit of an emotional one, when we got to Sixth Form at QEGS a lot of the good friends I had in the previous years of school left in a short space of time. Siousxie was one of the major ones we had spent a lot of time in each others lifes and in fact we had a very brief relationship (the aforementioned two hour one from a previous post!) this song just makes me feel about how the people in my life were changing and it's what led me indirectly to going to a university that I knew nobody at.

Kingsley Asumadu - Born in the USA - Bruce Springsteen - I've only willingly done karaoke twice in my lifetime this being the only time I instigated it, a group of us in bar one on the fourth of July, celebrating his nations independence day. None of us knew any of the words apart from the main line, it didn't matter we were all to drunk but it's one of hte best memories I have of my second year.

So there we have it more songs that remind me of people, I've said it before music is all around us and it only takes a few bars of a song to remind me of a night or a person. They pop into my head and then out again in an instant, but they all have left a mark on me mostly for the good!
