I used to be a proper hardcore gamer spending hours playing the latest releases, playing a range of genres from platform to sports to strategy and first person shooters. Some of my fondest early memories are of playing games with my friends. You say the words GCSE's and I won't tell you about the hours spent studying I'll tell you about mammoth Goldeneye marathons around Jonesy's house when we were supposed to be studying. a large proportion of my first year at university was spent playing horse on Tony Hawkes skating or our weekly CFC tournament on This I is football.
This challenge is about the one game that has made me rage quit on several occasions, Kingdom of Hearts. It frustrated the hell out of me several times, and led to me throwing my controller down in unadulterated fury. I've tried to conquer it at various times of my life, at uni, during my time alone, when I was with my ex wife and now again as a single pringle (I still love that term!)

On the surface it's a fairly easy game, I once described it at Final Fantasy Light. Following the adventures of Sora as he battles the heartless with the help of Donald Duck and Goofy. It's takes place in the several of the Disney Worlds, the likes of Alice in Wonderland, Tarzan, Hercules, Peter Pan and The Little Mermaid are featured and one of the main protagonists in Maleficient, who could have a claim to be the best Disney villain of all time. As a complete sidenote I would like it on record that my favourite animated Disney film is Robin Hood, one of the lesser known classics but I often find myself rewatching it, giving me that little reminder of a childhood spent in front of such brilliant movies.
So what was different this time than the previous attempts? I actually took the time to plan out a proper strategy and not just try and use brute force, I learnt the intricacies of the game, I spent time battling lesser villains to get my levels up. I battle the villains using a combination of magic and basic attacks. I levelled up at the right times and even though I did get frustrated I persevered and got the 'w' as a sports coach would say.
This was the first one of the tasks that required a lot of time and continued effort for me to complete, why was it on the list? This one of of those things from my past I had given up on and just forgot about. It's here to remind me that we can go back and redo things in a better way and complete them. It wasn't easy and it was very much time consuming, I hate to think how many hours I put into this one, a couple of hours here and there, it soon added up. It's helped me rediscover a love for gaming, more the retro games that I used to play and I want to go back and complete.......next on the list is Final Fantasy 12
